MRS. WRAY
Thursday 4/9:Review the powerpoint “Dealing with Other Nations.” Take notes. Your assignment: Research 4 revolutionary leaders. You’ll be researching Miguel Hidalgo, Simon Bolivar, Toussaint Louverture, and Jose de San Martin. You can do this on Google slides, and submit it through Classroom. For EACH person, create a slide with the following information:
-A picture of the revolutionary
-Born-died
-What nations did he free
-What nation did he fight against?
-5 interesting facts
Don’t just copy and paste; this needs to be in your own words.
So, for example, if we were talking about American Revolution leader George Washington, my slide would include:
George Washington
1732-1799
He freed the United States
He fought against the British.
Washington learned to be a surveyor at 16. Washington was an excellent dancer. Washington owned one of the biggest whiskey distilleries in the country. He was the first person to sign the Constitution. He was elected unanimously TWICE!
You can work on this today and Friday.

Wednesday 4/8: Happy Wednesday! As you can tell, we're moving more towards Google Classroom. PLEASE submit your assignment using the link in Classroom. For today, we're going to look at the 3 cases at the end of yesterday's powerpoint: McCulloch vs. Maryland, Gibbons vs. Ogden, and Dartmouth College vs. Woodward. Watch the following videos, and send me a summary of each case. You can submit this as an assignment in this classroom. Your summary should include:
1. Who was involved?
2. What was the issue?
3. How did the Supreme Court rule?
4. How does this case impact later issues or rulings?
5. Do you agree or disagree? Why?
For example, if we were talking about Marbury vs. Madison, my paragraph would look something like this (yours doesn't need to include the numbers. I just want to show you that all the parts are there):
(1)Judge William Marbury sued Secretary of State James Madison in order to get his federal judge commission. (2) He was given a job by President John Adams but when Thomas Jefferson came into office, he said Marbury couldn't have the job. (3) Even though Marbury followed proper steps and sued for his job, the Supreme Court said that he could NOT have his job, since the Supreme Court didn't have the power to help him. (4)This set up the power of judicial review, that the Supreme Court can declare laws unconstitutional, which has become their main job now. (5) While I feel bad for Marbury, I do agree with the ruling. They gave up a little power to get a lot more power. Since I tend to side with the Federalists on things, they put the good of a lot of people above the good of 1 person.

Tuesday 4/7: Welcome back! Before tackling this new unit, please make sure that you've taken the quiz and turned in your assignments from last week. Also, PLEASE remember that when you turn in an assignment late, it doesn't just appear in Powerschool. Just like in our regular classroom, I still have to grade it and enter your score. I know that your Google forms don't show that you're turning them in. It's ok, I can see them on my side! I'm trying something new today; after you click submit on your form, it should send you a "receipt" that it has been turned in.
Today: Read the powerpoint "The Era of Good Feelings" and fill in the form. The link to the form is unique for your hour; check Google classroom. Don't worry about the last few slides, starting with McCulloch v. Maryland. We'll talk about those later.
